Do you need to delegate a piece of your work to a colleague?
Do you need to actually stop the work you’ve been doing and move on?
Do you need to do things very differently to how you’ve always done them?
Then you need to Let Go!
If only it was as easy as Elsa sings it in the Disney film ‘Frozen’:
"Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door."
Even when we say we really want to let go of a task, project or responsibility - mysterious forces seem to prevent us actually doing so.
What's the block? What's keeping us holding on?
This Lab will demystify The Art of Letting Go, and consider how we stop ourselves from doing less, from delegating or from moving to a position where others can move-in, support and flourish.
Our interactive online exploration, will leave you with more energy and skills for change. It will support those wanting to let go of something, and those supporting others to do so too.
Themes we will cover include:
- How our, often unconscious, thinking stops us from moving on or being more effective.
- Redistributing Power: how visible behavioural cues help others step up.
- Being Vulnerable: showing others you are - and giving them permission to be vulnerable too; how this helps in the process of task transfer.
- Creating Psychological Safety: nurturing an environment where you - and others - feel secure enough to let go.
- Moving Mindsets: From fixed to growth - to bust assumptions about how the experience of delegation is going to go.
Participants will leave with enhanced understanding of the thinking, the skills and the process of delegation and letting go. We’ll learn about what's needed to encourage others to step up with confidence and how to give the right kind of support. Together, we'll practice how to be good ‘delegators’: managing delegation without falling into an array of traps from micro-managing the ‘delegatee’ to abandoning them completely to their fate.
