Ian brings an unshakeable belief in the potential of individuals, teams, and organisations to transcend current perceived limitations, and achieve remarkable results. He’s proved this in the unforgiving field of professional and international sport, as well as other domains.
Ian brings to his work the twin strengths of intellectual rigour and emotional intelligence. He uses proven psychological and performance knowledge to match his approach to the unique circumstances and identity of everyone he works with.
Ian understands that human performance is about the combination of many subtle elements – intrapersonal, interpersonal, and systemic. For him, performance alone is only part of the aim – he has a firm belief that sustainable performance is linked to becoming a person or group with higher self-awareness, knowledge, and wisdom.
Ian’s own journey has been marked by serious personal setbacks, notably a potentially life-threatening heart diagnosis that dashed his dreams of success in professional sport. His experiences have embedded in him an infectious compassion for the journey of others, and a determination they can learn some of the lessons he learned the hard way.
“My time with Ian has been some of the most rewarding “personal development” time in my whole career.”
