We are used to hearing about CBT. It's a therapy; a popular clinical intervention. Perhaps because of this, for some Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC) can seem a daunting or specialised area of practice, for others it may just be a curious unknown. This session introduces you to the key ideas, and how - as coaches - we can apply them in a distinctive, non-clinical way. It will provide a clear account of what Cognitive Behavioural Coaching is and describe some tools to support it.
Together we will consider some curious questions including:
- When might a Cognitive Behavioural Coaching approach be useful?
- Are you already using some of the techniques of CBC without realising it?
- Is it OK to ask a coachee: "Would you be interested in exploring this issue with a CBC approach?"
- Overall, we hope that by the end of the Learning Lab you may feel ready to explore it further or to have a go for yourself.
What to expect:
- Novel reflections on some familiar ideas.
- A chance to have any preconceptions around Cognitive Behavioural approaches challenged.
- Opportunity to try out new tools with fellow coaching enthusiasts in a friendly online setting.
- Stimulating insights from a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and experienced MF Executive Coach.
- This session was designed by Gordon Ryan
