"People don't want another monthly wellbeing session which they are too busy to attend.”
This quote from Adam Morris (CEO of Believe Perform) strikes a chord with us, and what we have been doing and thinking around Wellbeing: looking at how to engage, more meaningfully, with the topic.
The internet is full of advice, from ‘Get a good night’s sleep’ and ‘Do 30 minutes of yoga every morning’ to ‘Eat more of this!’ and ‘Take cold showers.’ Whilst it can be hard to define what constitutes Wellbeing, we all have a sense of it. Most of us want to help others achieve it. So, what really works, and how should we attend to it – in ourselves and those around us?
In this Learning Lab, in support of Wellbeing, we:
- Look at what current research is actually telling us about Wellbeing.
- Question some popular assumptions about Wellbeing hacks and quick-fixes.
- Identify what we can take-away to serve our own Wellbeing.
We will not stop there.
We will also take a more critical look at Wellbeing by:
- Exploring what can happen when – despite our best efforts to keep well – the conditions of our working environment seem to be working against Wellbeing.
- Asking what Wellbeing can mean in organisational cultures as yet ill-suited to nurturing it.
- Identifying strategies that can support our own Wellbeing – whilst supporting growth of healthier working cultures, ones that truly integrate Wellbeing within ways of working.
As ever, our Lab is a fully interactive online session focussed on practice development (i.e. doing things) through peer interaction (i.e. a community of learning).
- This session was designed by Matt Driver
