Learning Lab: Therapy Techniques. In the Coaching Room? Really?

Learning Labs
March 20, 2025

Where do coaching and therapy meet - and what can we learn from the overlap?

Coaching isn’t therapy. And yet, many coaches find there’s valuable learning to be found in the shared roots and blurred boundaries between the two. Whether it’s adapting techniques from the therapy room or studying therapeutic approaches more deeply, these explorations can offer rich development for coach and client alike.

In this Learning Lab, MF coach, ILM supervisor and consultant Dom Lydon shares insights from his own journey from coaching into therapy - and back again. Along the way, we’ll consider what we’re already doing that draws on therapeutic thinking, and explore when and how we might want to go further.

What to Expect:

This interactive session will offer personal insight, practical techniques and space to reflect. You’ll explore the potential and the pitfalls of stretching beyond traditional coaching boundaries, and connect with others who are curious about expanding their practice. Whether you’re therapy-curious or simply looking for fresh inspiration, this Lab will leave you with new perspectives and energy for your next step.

– This session was designed by Dom Lydon.
