Workplaces are increasingly more age diverse.
In embracing this change, what opportunities and challenges do we - and our clients - face?
Our work is built on real connection with colleagues and clients. We know that - whatever the age difference - when we connect one on one and talk as individuals, we find many of our age-based assumptions to be misplaced. In a wider context we recognise the polarisation of a debate that too often pits the needs of younger people against those of their more established colleagues. Wondering how to address these issues more effectively, we decided it was high time to bring them into a Learning Lab!
Whilst there are no easy answers to the huge demographic issues at play in this 'Intergeneration Game', our open online workshop will provide learning and activities to address potential areas of tension within multi-generational organisations. We'll also discover and delight in those places where cross-generational harmonies can be found: building new ways of working, ageing and thriving together.
What to expect:
- Insight into the organisational appetite for change in age-diverse environments.
- A chance to share effective practice and investigate what's working, together.
- Reflections, perspectives and experience from a range of generations.
- Help to challenge common assumptions that crop up in multi-generational work and conversation.
- Encouragement to fly past pigeon-holes: getting beyond popular age-based stereotypes (a.k.a. generational alphabet soup).
- Ideas on improving working practices to support warm connection between different ages.
- As ever, the Lab is fully interactive and inclusive - involving participants in breakout activities, with lots of opportunities there and in plenary, to engage with the MF community. Something for all ages!
- This session was designed by Una Murphy and Tim Cox
