“The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.”
— Malcolm X
Yet we aren’t in America in 1962. This is 2023. So, things must be better. Right?
2023’s Black History Month theme is ‘Saluting Our Sisters’. It highlights the crucial role that Black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities.
In this Learning Lab, we look at some of the Black women who have inspired us and the work that we do. We unpick how they’ve managed to inspire and what lessons and skills you can implement in your own leadership style. An important aspect of this Lab is to investigate how can we convert individual success to the universal for Black women in the workplace.
How we work:
At MF we create an authentic sense of belonging for everyone, helping to unlock the true power of diversity for ourselves, our network, and the organisations we support.
You can expect:
- An engaging mix of insight, challenge, wisdom, and experience sharing.
- Quality time in breakout rooms full of conversation and exploration for yourself and fellow participants.
- To come away with new ideas and practical learning to stimulate your own work and culture.
What to Bring:
If you have your own stories about Black women who have inspired you and those around you, do bring those along to share. Oh, and don’t forget your curiosity and openness, they’ll come in handy too.
- This session was designed by Shona Crooks and Toby Sawyer
